What is Shareware?
Shareware is a marketing concept that allows the end user to
evaluate a program before the author is compensated. Shareware
can be distributed through many different chanels, catalogs,
BBS's, retail racks and from user to user. Sometimes a small fee
is charged by the distributor. This fee does not compensate the
author in any way. The only way the author can make a profit,
and be able to continue to support the product is through
registrations. Shareware is a valuable resource to many computer
owners. The programs are usually not as expensive as commercial
applications with similar features. You also have the
opportunity to see if the program will work for you without
paying money up front. If you use a shareware program please
consider registering it. The author will be happy and you will
be happy knowing that you got a good deal on a program you know
you can use.
